Improving Chess One Day at a Time

Today, I would like to point out some guidelines you can use to play better chess in the upcoming days.

I hope you are as excited as I'm to improve your chess. What I'm about to reveal is something that you may have not heard of; unless you are part of some peak performers.

If you feel that you have not made much progress in the past year even though you have been playing games all along with your friends or on your computer then it's time to review what you are doing and map out a plan to systematically improve your chess skills.

I don't know if you have read this book call Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell in this book, the author talks about something called the "10000 hour rule" which means if you want to become a  world class expert in your chosen field you will have to practice for 10000 hours. That number is not something that is set in stone but Malcolm, the author did a study of peak perfomers in different fields and came up with that number. There are some prodigies who can make rapid progress they are exception not the rule.

With that said lets  do the math an year consists of 4380 hours(24 hours*365) now we have to deduct the working and sleeping hours from that the result it will be much less. For example if you spend 8 hours everyday for playing chess throughout the year, it will work out too 2920 hours.

If we divide 10000 by 2920 we get 3.4 that is approximately a few months less than 4 years if you truly want to become a world class chess player you must be committed to keep practicing every day consistently for 4 years.

I understand that some people cannot dedicate 8 hours exclusively for playing chess if that is the case then you will have to ask yourself "How much time I am willing to dedicate for daily practice?" let's say you decided you want to dedicate 3 hours everyday then you multiply 3 into 365 and then calculate how long it will take to reach the 10000 hour milestone it doesn't mean that you'll have to wait for so long to see success in your games someone once said "Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal"  enjoy the journey along the way.

If you are ready write out the plan calculator hours to reach the 10000 hour mark and see for yourself when you will be able to achieve that goal.
