3 Things Chess Beginners need to know

If you want to improve your chess playing skills then you want to pay attention to three major factors
namely a)Being focused, b)physical fitness and c) analyzing skills.

First of all, when you have laser focus in your games you will avoid making silly mistakes(blunders) it often helps you to map out a a winning strategy.

Most beginners do not pay 100% attention to the games that is the reason why they tend to make blunders early on in the game.

You may or may have not noticed this when you sit to play a game there might be something else going on in the back of your mind. Like what is the other person over the corner talking about? who is standing near the door? so on and so forth you don't want those things to distract you if you seriously want to improve your game. You need to be like a predator watching its prey waiting for the right moment to strike. Focus on the game and nothing else till the end.

With that said, the next thing you want to improve is your physical fitness if you are not in to it
already.

Choose some outdoor sport or go for regular walks. You might be thinking Chess is just a matter of
using your brain but studies have shown that there is a good connection between one's physical fitness and health of that person's brain.

In fact, did you know great players like Gary Kasparov and Vishwanathan Anand are also football players they wanted to make sure they get physical exercise everyday which helps them to endure long hours of preparation and playing games.

Finally, you also need to work on improving your analyzing skills. When you analyse the games of the masters just don't keep moving the pieces or pressing the arrow keys on your keyboard try to guess the moves without looking at the notation.

Often you may not get it right but it will get your thinking juices flowing to find out the ideas
behind the moves. It is highly recommended that you record games on a score sheet and analyse your own games.

If you won the game then analyse where the opponent went wrong and was there any other chances that you could have finished him even earlier.

On the other hand if you lost the game do not worry pull out the score sheet and playback the moves and you can identify the mistakes and avoid them in future.

In the coming days we will go in to more detail about tactics and strategies. Stay Tuned.
